Who doesn’t love a good before & after? Below are a few completed restoration projects that took pieces my clients wanted to salvage and were re-purposed to fit their design vision. From furniture restorations, to fireplace refreshes, a few improvements go a long way.

To elevate the light color, we paint distressed the existing wooden knobs and bamboo mirror, and applied a blend of metallic waxes in sliver, copper and gold, to add interest below and above this piece, and brings a new design element to the room.

After: Drawing color from abstract art work, a custom color of Aubusson Blue and English Yellow was used to paint the buffet adding a pop of color to this new room. The gold fretwork on the cabinet doors matches the custom metallic finish of the chandelier and sconces.

After: Part of the kitchen staging project was installing new white wall cabinets with Oil rubbed bronze hardware. Updating the ceiling fan metal accents from white to ORB will pull the look together and is more cost effective than replacing the entire fixture.

This kitchen renovation was designed to provide a more modern neutral look with white cabinets, distressed plank flooring and black, gray, and white granite countertops. The brick wall is a key feature but the natural brick was too heavy and red. This wall was white-washed with Annie Sloan chalk paint which brings out the texture and varying shades of the brick underneath.
A 1980's Pennsylvania House oak dining room set. This table has been sanded, stained a new color and sealed with poly coat for protection. The table base has been chalk painted in Olde White, lightly distressed, and sealed with clear wax for protection.
This project was all about design style change and adding a modern farmhouse feel to the entire house. The dark cabinets and granite made the master bath feel heavy. Updated with quartz countertops, flooring and hardware the color change to the vanity was an instant transformation. A Brimfield Flea Market find by a client was in desperate need of restoration. This cottage window had layers of paint and several of the mullions were damaged and the three panel doors were now restyled to two panes. After sanding the old paint and metal hinges and latches I discovered the wood had a red hue which allowed me to give it a modern distressed look without compromising the integrity of the piece. This piece was painted with Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Coco and French Linen and sealed with clear and dark wax for protection
This project is a collaboration of various artists, starting with the handed painted walls which gave us the foundation on the color selection for the window treatments and furniture. The adjoining living room was recently redecorated in soft neutrals of grays, creams, accented with painted pieces and wood stained furniture.
Before: This original Family Room was converted to a dining room creating a a comfortable atmosphere that is a unique blend of traditional, French, and rustic farmhouse styles. The dark brick fireplace was dark and and lacked the neutral rustic style. After: What a transformation! The white-washed brick highlights the wood beams and is the perfect design element for that rustic farmhouse look.

With a redecorating project scheduled for the spring, Phase 1 was To white-wash these two walls to add a neutral feel with the stove. Walls in this home will painted in neutral gray tones. This project was truly a Labor of Love! Clearly an example of how family heirlooms have sentimental value as with this room. With a kitchen renovation in the works this provided me with an opportunity to work with my cousin on transitioning this room to flow with the kitchen. The oval table chairs were swapped out for a Trestle table and benches moved from the kitchen. Next came the labor part! My team came to help with sanding the layers of poly coat on this pine trestle table. Pure sweat equity for sure! Great job Deb Buendo and Cathy Hood! After: The table was sanded and restrained in Special Walnut by Minwax, then applied five poly coat to seal the surface for protection. The hutch base and benches were painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old Ochre lightly distressed and sealed with clear and dark wax for protection. New lighting added texture, color and brightness to the room. Modern Farmhouse lighting was added to match the same fixtures in the kitchen.

Glass knobs add a touch of sparkle and keep the piece light and bright.
